Modern Technology... we take it for granted. Stuff like windshield wiper goggles for dogs would not be possible without good ole' Thomas Edison. Did you know he made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at perfecting the light bulb? When asked about this, Edison said "I didn't fail a thousand times, the light bulb took a thousand steps." Read on below for 3 facts about Thomas Edison and his inventions!
1. Besides the all famous first commercially practical incandescent electric lightbulb, Thomas Edison invented the Telegraph, Universal stock ticker, the Phonograph, Alkaline Batteries and the Kinetograph.
2. Thomas Edison was quite the entreprenuer. As a young child, he could never sit still in class and pay attention to lectures. His mother home-schooled him and convinced his parents to let him sell newspapers at 12 years old. He saw a need for a newspaper that would give up to date information and created his very own newspaper called the Grand Trunk Herald.
3. Edison was a home town hero when he saved a 3 year old boy from being run over by an errant train. The father of the boy taught Edison how to operate a Telegraph as thanks. This resulted in Edison being an itinerant telegrapher at the age of 15, allowing him to travel all over the country and study his favorite subjects during his free time.
